A combination of some resolute Lens defending and some profligate Paris finishing meant that their Ligue 1 clash at the Parc des Princes looked likely to be heading towards a stalemate at half-time.
However, David Luiz had other ideas and stepped up confidently to strike a free-kick just before the break.
The centre-back fired home from distance on 43, the strike leaving Lens keeper Rudy Riou no chance after a wicked deflection to give PSG a 1-0 lead.
The goal was reminiscent of Luiz’s set-piece effort against Colombia for hosts Brazil during the World Cup.
