According to his manager, the ex-Inter Milan legend can barely run:
“We must take care of Diego, he is having a bad moment, he cannot even jog,” said Diego Cocca.
“These are difficult times, when you are injured and can do very little to recover. He has fluid on his knee, it is very swollen and must be cared for.
“He is disappointed, but he must give priority to his knee. He has to be good, he is doing his best to get back as quickly as possible, but for sure he won’t be ready next Tuesday for the Copa Libertadores”.
Racing, who are top of Group 8 with two wins from two games, face Peruvians Sporting Cristal at the Estadio Juan Domingo Peron in their third game.
Their next league game is an away tie against Atletico Rafaela on Friday night. They’ve endured a mixed start to their domestic campaign, taking four points from their first three games.
