The riots occurred when fans from Laferrere, a local team which plays in the third division of Argentine football, tried to access a local derby against Dock Sud without tickets.
“We have to ban those responsible for the atrocities,” said the government official, who is also the current chairman of Primera A side Quilmes.
“There were only police officers injured, no one from Dock Sud got injured, they were protected” he said.
The media in Argentina reported this morning that the police had conducted raids to seize guns from the Laferrere fans.
This is not the first time this kind of violence has occurred between the fans of the two teams after a similar incident occurred in April last year.
