Barcelona midfielder Xavi is set to leave the La Liga giants in the summer, with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, and it appears he will join Frank Lampard and David Villa in signing for MLS franchise New York City.

Spanish radio station Cadena SER reports that the Spaniard is finalising negotiations over a move to team up with former international team-mate and good friend David Villa, along with long-running Champions League rival Frank Lampard, in joining NYCFC.
A meeting reportedly took place between Xavi, his father, and representative Ivan Corretja, as well as an executive of Manchester City, New York’s parent club, at restaurant L’Arrosseria Xàtiva in Barcelona – with a deal close to being announced.
