The club have since complained about the lack of water at the Bolivian stadium, meaning the players were forced to leave the ground without being able to take a shower.

“Nobody came to see how we were doing. The Bolivian people treated us very well in Santa Cruz, but the club themselves did not” said the vice president of River, Jorge Brito. “We did not have any water in the changing room and had to leave without being able to shower”.

Aside from the result, there was worrying news for defender German Pezzella, who suffered a spinal injury will undergo tests this week to analyse the severity of his injury.

The next game for River Plate in Group 5 of the Copa Libertadores will be Thursday March 5th, when they welcome Tigres UANL from Mexico.
