World Cup final could take place on December 23rd…

A FIFA taskforce has decided to come up with they perceive to be a solution to the much disputed decision to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup – by moving the tournament to the winter.

Now, the recommendation that the tournament should take place in November and December has been met with fury by English football fans – and Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has spoken out against the “disappointing” suggestion.

The holiday spell is a significant source of revenue and crucially comes just before the January transfer window opens. Yet it would not just be top-flight fixtures needing to be arranged – but the lower Football League clubs would be affected, also, reports the Daily Mail.

Such a suggestion has only disgraced FIFA even further – the soaring temperature in Qatar is certainly not a secret – which only begs the question why the rest of football should suffer for the corruptness of the sport’s world governing body.
