A few months ago the team launched a campaign to prevent the eviction of an elderly woman from her home, and now they have once again shown their support for social causes with a campaign against homophobia in sport.

The ‘Federation of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons’ (FELGTB) launched a campaign many years ago to involve players in events that could promote the fight against homophobia.

Their campaign gained fame in the UK when several clubs agreed to wear rainbow-coloured shoelaces back in September.

Fast forward to today, and the first Spanish club to confirm their involvement  has been Rayo Vallecano.

They’ve announced they will wear the rainbow shoelaces next Sunday in the match against Athletic Bilbao.
