Manchester City became the ninth team to accumulate 1,000 Premier League points when they smashed Stoke City 4-1 at the Britannia Stadium last week.
The 2013-14 champions still have a long way to go before they can even think about eclipsing Manchester United’s Prem points tally, which currently stands at 1,863.
However, City will surely climb up this list over the next few years, as long as the guy signing the cheques sticks around!
9. Manchester City – 1,000 all-time Premier League points
City were founder members of the Premier League in 1992, but the two-time champions have spent five seasons in lower divisions since then.
8. Newcastle United – 1,139 all-time Premier League points
Aside from one season spent in the Championship (2009-10), Newcastle have been ever-presents in the Premier League. They were runners-up to Manchester United twice in the mid-90s.
7. Aston Villa – 1,190 all-time Premier League points
Villa came second in the 1992-93 season, but they have only finished in the top five twice since then.
6. Everton – 1,196 all-time Premier League points
The Toffees frequently battled relegation in the early years of the Premier League. In fact, the Goodison Park side finished in the bottom half of the table in 10 of the league’s first 12 seasons. However, they have secured top-10 finishes in nine of the last 10 campaigns!
5. Tottenham Hotspur – 1,270 all-time Premier League points
Premier League stalwarts Spurs have never finished in the top three, but the flashy Londoners have ended up in the top five in six of the last nine seasons.
4. Liverpool – 1,521 all-time Premier League points
The Reds are – without doubt – the best Premier League team never to win a title.
3. Chelsea – 1,618 all-time Premier League points
Chelsea were very ordinary in the early days of the Premier League, finishing 11th, 14th, 11th and 11th again in the first four seasons. However, the much-improved Blues have not finished outside the top six since 1996.
2. Arsenal – 1,646 all-time Premier League points
The Gunners can still justifiably claim to be the second best team in Premier League history, but Chelsea look almost certain to steal that title very soon.
1. Manchester United – 1,863 all-time Premier League points
