Manchester United are preparing to make an offer to Borussia Dortmund for their midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to the Metro.

Louis van Gaal is on alert after reports in Germany suggested that contract talks between Dortmund and the 24-year-old have stalled in recent times, with the German’s current deal due to expire at the end of next season.
Gundogan has already rejected two offers from the club currently languishing just outside the Bundesliga relegation zone, but with talisman Marco Reus recently signing a new deal, there were thoughts that his countryman would follow suit, but that hasn’t yet been the case.
The German club are unlikely to want to lose the player for nothing in 2016, so may be willing to discuss a deal with United at the end of this season should Gundogan’s future still be undecided.
United will be willing to pay up to £20m to beat off competition from Arsenal and sign the midfielder.
