The Germany international left north London seemingly on bad terms after struggling to find playing time over the last 18 months.
The World Cup winner even accused Wenger of a lack of respect for not saying goodbye when he joined Inter Milan this January in a six-month loan deal with an eye for a permanent deal.
However, despite it seeming like he had left the Gunners for good, Podolski appears to have backtracked on his comments after it has become clear he will not be signed permanently by the Serie A side.
“As thing stand now, I will return to London in the summer,” he said. “There will be talks in March or April because the season ends in May,” said Podolski to Kicker, reports ESPN.
He has yet to score in six appearances for Roberto Mancini’s side and is still starting matches from the bench, a key reason he cited as leaving Arsenal.
“I had a great time in London, even though the last half-year wasn’t satisfying from a sporting perspective.
“But it’s a fact that I never had problems there neither with the club, nor with Arsene Wenger, or even the fans.
“All I bemoaned was that once the move was sealed there were no farewell words from the club.
“But in spite of that I had two-and-a-half nice years, from a sporting and from a personal perspective.
“I am proud to have ended Arsenal’s trophy drought with my goals in the FA Cup and to have won this trophy as a German in England.”
Podolski’s time in Milan definitely looks to have ended just as it started with the German not even selected for the club’s Europa League squad.
