In the first leg of their qualifier against Alianza Lima Huracan won 4-0, making the second leg very difficult for the Peruvian team. Their goals came from Ramon Abila in the 5th minute, Alejandro Romero Gamarra in the 37th and two more from Patricio Toranzo in the 75th and 79th minutes.

The game was played out in Peru in an empty stadium after CONMEBOL banned the team’s fans from attending – a fact which no doubt helped the Argentine minnows.

The second leg ended 0-0 and consequently Huracan progressed as the winner.

The result is quite a shock – Alianza Lima have participated in Libertadores 24 times, reaching the semi-finals in both 1976 and 1978.

Huracan have not played in the competition since 1974.
