Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho Admits To Doubts Over New Signing Juan Cuadrado

Jose Mourinho has warned Chelsea supporters to not expect too much of Juan Cuadrado this season, despite the Blues paying £22m to sign the Colombian from Fiorentina earlier this month.

Cuadrado made his debut for the Stamford Bridge side as a late substitute against Aston Villa last weekend and will be hoping to make his first start later tonight when the Blues take on Everton.

However Mourinho, who was quoted by Goal.com, has made no guarantees to his new star regarding first team action:

“He is selected [for the Everton match]. I know if he will start or not, but I won’t say.

“It’s normal, step by step, to be integrated. He needs time. I know Italy and I know the difference between Italy and England. His formation, his development, his experience – everything was in Italy.

“I wasn’t expecting him to come on to the pitch against Aston Villa and destroy them. Stability, time, integration – I think we will see the best Cuadrado next year.”

The 26-year-old was one of the stars of his country’s World Cup campaign last summer, helping Colombia to reach the quarter-final stage, while he has also been in superb form at club level prior to his move to West London.
