West Ham United’s co-owner David Gold has admitted that he’s not given up hope of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Winston Reid signing a new contract to extend his stay at Upton Park.

Gold, who was quoted by the Metro, tweeted: “I’m still hopeful he (Reid) will sign for West Ham United but we just have to wait and see. DG”
The 26-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, with reports suggesting that the New Zealand international will definitely be leaving East London come the conclusion of the current campaign.
However, the Hammers are still desperate to keep Reid, who has been a key player for them in recent seasons – playing 115 league games since joining the club from FC Midtjylland in 2010.
Their hopes of keeping the player have been boosted by Arsenal, who were among the favourites to sign Reid, but have since eased their need for a new centre-back with the signing of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal in the final days of the January transfer window.
Tottenham are also interested and will likely be able to offer Reid the chance to play European football, which is thought to be what he craves.
