The ‘Rossoneri’ had supposedly tried to sign the 22 year old in the January transfer window, but were turned away by Atlanta’s board.
At the time, Atalanta technical director Pierpaolo Marino told La Gazzetta dello Sport that “Atalanta do not want to lose their best players. We postponed all discussion to the very next opportunity. We have made a promise to talk about it again”.
However, the ‘Orobici’ have now admitted that the northern giants are once again in pole position for his signature, and it is expected a deal will be forced through in the coming weeks.
Baselli will reportedly be given a £1 million per year contract which will run until the end of the 2018-19 season.
The youngster began his career at Cittadella in 2011, only moving to Atalanta in 2013. He has made 42 appearances since his arrival, but has yet to find the back of the net. He has also represented Italy at U18, U19 and U21 levels.
