New Barcelona Sporting Director Wishes His Side Hadn’t Sold Alexis Sanchez To Arsenal

Arsene Wenger may have been lucky to get the Chilean before the director’s appointment…

Barcelona international sporting director Ariedo Braida has admitted that he would not have sold Alexis Sanchez had he been at the club in summer, reports the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old was signed by Arsenal in the summer for £30 million, and he has been a hit at the club ever since. In 30 starts for the Gunners he has scored 18 goals and grabbed eight assists. However, this may not have happened had Braida been involved with the Blaugranas back when the sale was authorised.

The 68-year-old would love to have the Chilean at the Nou Camp again, and does not understand why he was let go following his 19 goal haul in his final Barcelona campaign.

He said, “I’d like Sanchez on at all my clubs, but sometimes can’t.” When asked on why he was sold he answered, “That I do not know. I was not at the club at that time and I can not put myself in that situation.

“I only started my position this month. I do not know what reasons the club had to let him go, but now Sanchez is one of the best in the Premier League and is at a top level in world football.”

He added, “Alexis Sanchez is a great player, one of the world’s best in his position. I know him a lot, has an exquisite technique.”

Sanchez could return to the North London club’s starting XI in their game against Leicester City on Tuesday. He has missed the last two matches with a hamstring problem.
