The Gunners were a proposed target of Ochoa in the summer as he looked to leave French side Ajaccio, but the 29-year-old eventually signed for the La Liga outfit instead.

However, the north Londoners could still make a move for the shot stopper if he chooses to leave Spain, particularly given the situation surrounding supposed no. 1 Wojciech Szczesny, reports the Metro.

The Pole has only featured in one game, Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Brighton in FA Cup, since his supposed post-Southampton cigarette in the showers which saw him face a large fine and consigned to the bench.

With some reports claiming Szczesny could be on the way out in the summer due to his faux-pas, perhaps Ochoa would be a smart acquisition from Arsene Wenger as a back-up with David Ospina proving in recent weeks he has what it takes to be first choice.

Liverpool are also said to be keeping a close eye on Ochoa and whichever side manages to qualify for Champions League football next season could have a leg up on their rivals.
