How to revitalise this stuttering City side, including huge midfield investment.
With Manchester City drawing at home to Hull City this weekend, it looks more than likely that Manuel Pellegirni’s side’s Premier League title challenge is over for the season, with Chelsea moving seven points clear and looking by far the better team at the moment.

It is a poor defence of their title, with City rarely getting into gear this season, and it clearly looks as though a new generation of talent is needed at the Etihad Stadium – and that means a new wave of big-money signings.
With changes needed in defence, midfield and attack, here’s our pick of five big names City must try to bring in this summer, aided of course by the sales of some of the current squad:
1) Paul Pogba (Juventus)
Linked with City as an ideal replacement for Yaya Toure, Paul Pogba would cost an astronomical fee, but would be well worth the investment – and it’s one the wealthy owners at the Etihad Stadium should be able to afford.

2) Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
One of the best centre-backs in the world at the moment, Diego Godin needs to come in to help this leaky City backline, and possibly replace the in-decline Vincent Kompany.
3) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)
With under-performers such as Fernandinho and Fernando making way, City simply must improve in defensive midfield and join the chase for one of the finest in the Premier League in this position – Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, who could cost as little as £15m.
4) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Available for just £20m next summer, Borussia Dortmund playmaker Marco Reus could be an ideal replacement for David Silva in that number ten role, whilst also providing a big upgrade on the likes of Samir Nasri in that part of the pitch.
5) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Another player who could move next summer for the right price – believed to be in the region of £35-40m – Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema would be a superb addition upfront, allowing City to offload the likes of Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic and be less reliant on the injury-prone Sergio Aguero.
