GK: Manuel Almunia vs Heurelho Gomes
Two goalkeepers way below the required standard for either club, it’s amazing how long Manuel Almunia and Heurhelho Gomes lasted at the respective sides, with the former Arsenal custodian perhaps edging it in terms of individual howlers.
Vote: Almunia
Top Ten Most Bizarre Premier League Signings Including Man United & Liverpool Flops
DR: Emmanuel Eboue vs Alan Hutton
Two woeful right-backs with little to offer in defence or going forward, former Arsenal man Emmanuel Eboue really is one of the most comical performers in the club’s recent history.
Vote: Eboue
DL: Andre Santos vs Ben Thatcher
Tottenham’s Ben Thatcher was a big disappointment, but the performances of Andre Santos for Arsenal were something else as the overweight Brazilian humiliated himself, most notably in a game against Manchester United.
Vote: Santos
DC: Mikael Silvestre vs Mbuelo Mabizela
Way past his best when he joined Arsenal from Manchester United, Mikael Silvestre was terrible for the Gunners, while Mbuelo Mabizela was one of many who failed to achieve his potential at Tottenham.
Vote: Silvestre
DC: Sebastien Squillaci vs Calum Davenport
Another Arsenal defender with the cursed number 18 shirt, Sebastien Squillaci was another big mistake by Arsene Wenger. Calum Davenport was another Spurs player out of depth in the Premier League, though he was never truly a regular, unlike the Frenchman.
Vote: Squillaci
MC: Denilson vs Danny Murphy
Denilson was very average for Arsenal and lasted way too long, but Danny Murphy’s career outside of his spell at White Hart Lane shows that he really should’ve done better.
Vote: Murphy
MC: Abou Diaby vs Mousa Dembele
Abou Diaby has never particularly looked like becoming a great player, but he has the excuse of injuries that Mousa Dembele does not, with the Belgian massively flopping for Spurs.
Vote: Dembele
AMR: Andrey Arshavin vs David Bentley
Two expensive signings that failed to deliver in the atacking midfield department, Andrey Arshavin at least made a good start at Arsenal, while David Bentley did little of note at White Hart Lane.
Vote: Bentley
AML: Jose Antonio Reyes vs Erik Lamela
Both signed for big money as among the most exciting young talents in the world, both huge disappointments in English football. Erik Lamela cost more and has arguably done less than Jose Antonio Reyes at Arsenal.
Vote: Lamela
FC: Marouane Chamakh vs Helder Postiga
Two incredibly goal-shy strikers that make you wonder why they were ever signed in the first place, Helder Postiga perhaps has the argument that he was young and inexperienced in the Premier League.
Vote: Chamakh
FC: Christopher Wreh vs Roberto Soldado
Two more woeful options upfront, Roberto Soldado has to get the vote over Arsenal backup man Christopher Wreh, as he was signed for big money to be first choice.
Vote: Soldado
