The 31 year old right-back will see his Nou Camp deal expire in the summer and looks set to leave the Catalan giants with Arsene Wenger keen to bring in the Brazilian on a free transfer deal at the end of the season.
Interest in a full-back is a little hard to fathom given the number of options in this regard Wenger currently has available to him.
At right-back Wenger can call upon Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin and the French boss isn’t well known for signing players over the age of 30, especially those who would demand a hefty salary.
That said, clearly Alves is one of the best in the business and the option to bring in the decorated full-back without having to pay a fee may be one that’s too good to pass up.
