GK) Simon Mignolet – 7/10

Can’t be blamed for letting in the penalty and looked more assured in goal including an important save from Eidur Gudjohnsen late on.

DRC) Emre Can – 8/10

Was an imposing presence all night in the Liverpool back line showing a performance which belied his 21 years. Looked impressive when he crept forward hammering one off the bar and setting up Sterling’s goal.

DLC) Mamadou Sakho – 8/10

A solid performance from the French defender, never troubled and showed off some flair with a couple of chipped passes to get his side out of difficulty.

DC) Martin Skrtel – 6/10

Uninspriring and gave away the penalty against Zach Clough but equally did the simple things. Solid, no more no less.

MR) Lazar Markovic – 6/10 (Borini – 65′)

Injured early on in the second half which will have been a disappointment to him. While he didn’t do much in the attacking areas his pace was invaluable while defending.

ML) Alberto Moreno – 6/10

Similarly had a solid yet uninspiring game. His width stretched Bolton once they went down to ten men which was instrumental in Liverpool winning.

MC) Joe Allen – 4/10 (Sturridge – 70′)

Allen has had a hard time playing second choice in Liverpool’s midfield and disappointed in this match.

MC) Steven Gerrard – 6/10

His 700th appearance for the Reds was marked with a win in a fitting tribute to the captain and he now seems to have passed on the mantle of getting Liverpool out of trouble on to the younger players.

AMRC) Adam Lallana – 5/10 (Henderson – 54′)

Largely a passenger yesterday evening but this can perhaps be excused considering he has only recently come back from injury.

AMLC) Coutinho – 9/10

A huge creative talent who has been criticised for his lack of goals recently. Last night’s screamer will have kept doubters quiet a little longer.

FC) Raheem Sterling – 7/10

A superbly calm finish from the 20-year-old which belied his age. As a centre forward when he matches his pace with goals he’s a valuable player.

Subs:

Jordan Henderson – 7/10

His passion and drive got his side back into the game, chipping away at the ten men.

Fabio Borini – 5/10

Was anonymous for his cameo appearance and may have picked up an injury for his troubles

Daniel Sturridge – 6/10

Provides a focal point to the attack which Liverpool have missed so much this season.
