Rooney’s side take on Conference side Cambridge United in their FA Cup fourth round replay on Tuesday night, a match the Premier League side would expect to win at a canter, and the England international hopes that he can then lead Man United to Wembley in May.
On the subject of Rooney’s desire to win the competition full-back Luke Shaw elaborated;
“Of course he’s told us that — but the whole team look at it as a trophy we all want. Wazza hasn’t won it and he’s definitely going to want to win it this year.”
“You could say it’s the main priority now because the league — while I wouldn’t say it’s gone — is quite far away.
“We’ve been quite lucky with the draw so far, so maybe it could be our year.” Shaw added.
A win over Cambridge United would set-up a fifth round clash with either Sheffield United or Preston.
