Arsene Wenger brought in the 24 year old to strengthen a Gunners defence that has been stretched at points this term due to something of an injury crisis earlier in the campaign.
Paulista has been in superb form over the past 18 months, being a key part of a Villarreal defence that has been near flawless, and the centre-back will hope to impress sufficiently in the Premier League to attract attention from national team coach Dunga.
“To get in the Brazil squad would be sensational and perhaps, now I am at Arsenal, I will have more chances to do that.
“With a lot of hard work and effort it will be possible to fulfil my dreams. I am a realistic person and I have come to Arsenal to help, to work and to learn, because I am convinced it is very difficult to triumph in the Premier League.
“In the days leading up to my move I was obsessed with it – if it was not possible I would have stayed at Villarreal and waited for another chance. But now I am here I promise to work, work and work.” added Paulista.
