Why has the Chelsea striker been made and example of when other high profile stars have got away with similar incidents?

The Spanish international will now face three games on the sidelines including this weekend’s key clash with Manchester City, which could have serious ramifications for the Premier League title race.
Chelsea and Costa both refuted the charge for the stamp, shown below, but the FA ignored their claims and Costa will be now be on the sidelines for a potentially damaging period of time.
But why has the former Atletico Madrid man been banned when similar incidents have gone unpunished by the Football Association?
This, for instance, was a stamp by Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero almost two seasons ago that he somehow managed to get away with without punishment.
And this was an equally disgusting and sneaky stamp by Stoke’s Robert Huth on Luis Suarez in a league game last season.
Where is the consistency from the FA?
What makes Costa’s offence any more serious than the two examples shown here? And it should be pointed out these are just two of many available.
There’s a whole trove of decisions the FA has either been too scared or not strong enough to enforce.
Whilst it seems justice has been served with Costa receiving a lengthy ban, instances such as this will continue to happen until there is at least consistent enforcement of the rules and equally severe punishment from the FA.
