Goalkeeper: Mark Schwarzer

Former Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea stopper now at Leicester City is probably one of the safest pairs of hands in the Premier League. Even at 42 he still manages to command his area and make acrobatic saves and has now made 543 Premier League and is a true stalwart of England’s top league.

Right back: Luke Wilkshire

The right-back started his career at Middlesbrough before moving on to Bristol City and ending up at Feyenoord via a whistle-stop tour of the Eredivisie. An Australia regular with 77 caps and a shoe-in for the XI.

Centre back: Lucas Neill

Highly thought of at Blackburn, West Ham and Everton and captain of the Socceroos, Lucas Neill is known for his tireless work ethic and never-stop-running attitude. An uncompromising defender known for his rough tackles Neill was never a stranger to a booking.

Centre back: Craig Moore

Craig Moore had two terms at Rangers with a spell at Crystal Palace sandwiched in-between before moving on to Newcastle United. An experienced international with 52 caps, Moore was solid without being spectacular in the Premier League playing 31 times for the Magpies over two seasons.

Left back: Stan Lazaridis

Stan Lazaridis was a regular in both the West Ham and Birmingham City teams during his time in England and left with a League Cup runners up medal from the 2001 final penalty loss against Liverpool. A fan favourite at St. Andrews due to his quick feet and lightening pace.

Right midfield: Brett Emerton

Had a knack for scoring world-class goals and blessed with a great final ball, it was no fluke Brett Emerton was incredibly highly thought of during his time at Ewood Park.

Centre midfield: Tim Cahill

A true Socceroo legend who made his mark in both hemispheres whilst playing in the Premier League for Everton. Played a total of 278 games and scoring 68 goals from an attacking midfield role Cahill ensured that many a Premier League corner flag took a battering with his trademark celebration.

Centre midfield: Mile Jedinak

Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak has been influential in the development of the club over the past few years. Jedinak played a huge role in the club gaining promotion to the Premier League in the first place and has shown his ability during two Premier League seasons while also scoring some brilliant free kicks.

Left midfield: Harry Kewell

Possibly the most gifted player to ever come out of Australia, in his prime Harry Kewell was a mainstay of the Champions League with Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray and is the proud owner of a winners medal after that famous 2005 night in Istanbul with the Reds.

Striker: John Aloisi

John Aloisi had a mixed time with Coventry City with his fiery temper occasionally getting the better of him. It’s fair to say his best years came after his Sky Blues spell, whilst in Spain, but he makes it in due to his Premier League appearances.

Striker: Mark Viduka

Probably the most prolific scorer in Australian football history. Mark Viduka needs no introduction and his reputation speaks for itself having finished his career scoring 258 league goals in 409 league games – a true great of Aussie sport.
