Who will these two want to emulate after arriving at the North London club in January? Here are five that they could do worse than copy…
5) Nicolas Anelka
The Frenchman may not be well remembered by fans now, but Anelka was a great signing by Arsene Wenger. Bought for a miniscule fee from PSG in 1997, he helped the Gunners to the double the year after. Not only this, but he made the club a shedload of cash by moving to Real Madrid for £22.3 million in 1999.
4) Nacho Monreal
Maybe not the most exciting of signings in 2013, but the left-back has been important nonetheless. With Kieran Gibbs very injury prone, it has been left to the Spaniard to cover for him on many occasions. He has even been found to be reliable at centre-back during some of the worse injury crises.
3) Theo Walcott
When he was signed for big money as a 16-year-old obviously a lot was expected from the England international. He even immediately went to the World Cup! Injuries may have held him back, but when he is fit and firing the now 25-year-old is one of the best players at the Emirates.
2) Emmanuel Adebayor
Even though he is now hated by Gunners fans, Adebayor was largely a success while at the North London club. If you ignore the dubious celebration then you see a player that was great alongside Robin van Persie, and also made Arsene Wenger a lot of dough by moving to Manchester City for £25 million.
1) Kolo Toure
Perhaps the best example for Gabriel to follow is that of Toure. The centre-back was a rock at the back for Arsenal between 2002 and 2009, helping the side to numerous titles and an invincible season. It was arguably a mistake when the Ivorian was let go.
