The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) are looking at “fresh evidence” submitted by Ched Evans which he hopes will clear his rape conviction, according to reports in the Guardian.

A statement on Evans’ website says submissions were made to the CCRC on Friday and it is claimed these will “strengthen” his case.
The former Sheffield United and Manchester City player was released from prison having served only half of a five year sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman in a Rhyl hotel room.
The statement on his website reads, “The application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission on behalf of Ched Evans was submitted on 15 July 2014 and was given Level 1 priority in September 2014.
“On Friday 23rd January 2015 further detailed submissions – supported by previously unavailable fresh evidence that we believe strengthens Ched’s application – were lodged with the commission.”
Evans did appeal the conviction in April 2012 although this was rejected by three judges at the Court of Appeal.
Recently, he has attempted to re-establish himself in professional football but has been snubbed by former club Sheffield United and more recently Oldham Athletic following the public outcry that broke amid talk of moves to both Bramall Lane and Boundary Park outfits.
