Liverpool Hoping To Secure January Loan Move For Barcelona Goalkeeper

Could Marc-Andre ter Stegen replace David de Gea at Manchester United?

Reds hoping to persuade Marc-Andre ter Stegen to head to Anfield.

Liverpool are hopoing that they can persuade Barcelona to allow them to take German international goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen on a loan deal until the end of the season, report the Express, after the former Borussia Monchengladbach stopper lost his battle with Claudio Bravo to become first choice Nou Camp ‘keeper during the first half of the season.

The Reds, meanwhile, have had goalkeeping issues of their own this season with first choice Simon Mignolet putting in a string of uncertain displays, leading to him being dropped in favour of Australian Brad Jones – who promptly got injured.

Whilst Belgian international Mignolet has been improved since he returned to the team, it still appears that Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing a new goalkeeper to Anfield during January, at least on a temporary basis, and ter Stegen could well be that man.

The fact that Barca manager Luis Enrique still regularly uses the German in cup matches both in the Champions League and Copa del Rey complicates matters, however, and Liverpool could have a tough job on their hands persuading them to allow him to leave.
