Real Sociedad Wait On Arsenal Answer In Striker Loan Pursuit

David Moyes’ side hoping to bring Joel Campbell to La Liga in January.

La Liga side Real Sociedad are expecting an answer on Wednesday as to whether Arsenal will allow young forward Joel Campbell to join the club on loan this month, report the Mirror, with David Moyes hoping to lure the exciting Costa Rican from the Emirates Stadium.

The report also suggests that Sociedad are considering an £8m permanent move for the striker, although a loan is more likely as Moyes looks to bring in the attacking reinforcements to help his side score the goals to build on their impressive defensive record since the former Manchester United boss took over.

Campbell has been a largely peripheral figure at the Emirates Stadium this season, ever since he returned from a loan spell at Greek champions Olympiakos last season. His displays for the Erythrolefkoi showed just what he is capable of – form that Moyes hopes can give a real boost to his La Real side.

Having already allowed Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo to leave the club on loan this January, however, manager Arsene Wenger is yet to decide whether Campbell will be needed by the Gunners between now and the end of the season.
