Manchester United’s Proposed Swap Deal With Real Madrid For Bale Drops In Value To £80m

Old Trafford side do not appear to rate Bale as highly as they had previously.

Rumours linking Manchester United and Real Madrid with a mega swap deal involving David de Gea and Gareth Bale have taken another twist as now the overall value of the transfer will be £80m, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Previous reports from the Independent outlined that a £100m offer was in place which would see £50m paid to Madrid in cash and the rest taken up by the value of de Gea.

However, in less than 24 hours that has dropped by £20m, with the Red Devils seemingly now believing Bale is not worth £100m at all and that £40m will now be paid to the Spanish giants and the goalkeeper will make up the rest of the deal.

Such a move would still represent a club record transfer though, eclipsing the £59.7m they paid Los Blancos for Angel di Maria over the summer by more than £20m.

Whether or not the reigning Champions League holders would want to part with Bale is another matter as well, as although the Spanish press have been on the Welshman’s back his performances on the pitch have been excellent.

Since arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for a world record £85.3m from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 the 25-year-old has scored 35 goals in 71 appearances, helping Madrid to Copa del Rey and Champions League glory in his first season at the club.
