According to Newstalk ZB, a Phoenix spokesperson said Boxall was “baffled” upon hearing the news.
Several reports from South Africa suggest Boxall has signed a deal with SuperSport United, with Soccer Laduma even quoting United’s chief executive Stan Matthews announcing the signing of the Kiwi international.
“We’re excited to have signed Michael, and we wanted to have him here sooner, but his club indicated that he was very important for them and that they didn’t want to lose him now,” Matthews is quoted as saying by Soccer Laduma.
“Due to that we’ll only get him at the end of the season.”
The Phoenix spokesperson told Newstalk ZB that Boxall was contracted until the end of the season and no deal had been made with the South African club.
