The former Bordeaux man looks set to leave his Bundesliga side, who are demanding £5m for the 26 year old, and as well as Sam Allardyce scouting the striker there is also said to be interest from Crystal Palace and Hull City.
The Hammers seem to be pretty covered in terms of striking talent with the East London side clearly not struggling in front of goal this term though perhaps any interest in Modeste could be in relation to the possible loss of those already doing the business at Upton Park.
West Ham currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League table having bagged 32 goals in 21 fixtures, which is an even better return when you consider Allardyce’s side managed just 40 goals all season last term.
Modeste, who has scored four goals in seven Bundesliga starts this season, spent a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in 2012 and may be open to another shot in England.
