1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Recently linked with Liverpool as he is possibly set to be offloaded by Real Madrid, Karim Benzema is a truly world class striker who has done the business at the top level. There’s no doubt the Frenchman could shine at City and he may not cost a great deal more than Bony if recent reports are to be believed.

2) Mario Mandzukic (Atletico Madrid)

Recently linked with both City and Arsenal, Atletico Madrid’s Mario Mandzukic has had an excellent season after being harshly offloaded by Bayern Munich. The Croatian is a class above Bony and should be considered.

3) Radamel Falcao (Manchester United)

After being snubbed by Louis van Gaal against Southampton this weekend, could Radamel Falcao be set for a shock exit from the club? Although it would be controversial, it may be worth City gambling on the on-loan AS Monaco man, who has looked world class prior to this injury-hit season.

4) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

A player likely to be sold by PSG in the near future, Edinson Cavani may be expensive, but he’s certainly the kind of quality City need.

5) Paulo Dybala (Palermo)

Dubbed the ‘next Sergio Aguero’, this outstanding youngster is also being tracked by Arsenal and would be a superb investment for the future by City, rather than the stop-gap option of signing Bony.
