Blues don’t need to knock back Bundesliga approach for World Cup winner.
Wolsfburg have ruled out making a move for talented Chelsea attacker Andre Schuurle after reports emerged of an imminent £23m bid, according to the Daily Express.
Wolfsburg were said to be preparing a £23million offer for the World Cup winner, but those rumours have been denied by the club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs.
“There is no truth. I can categorically say that,” Allofs said.
Allofs’ comments come after assistant Blues boss Steve Holland ruled out any transfer activity at Stamford Bridge during the January window in order to stay abreast of Financial Fair Play regulations.
That also means that they will be unlikely to make a mega move for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who was linked with a £200m switch to west London earlier this week.
Schurrle himself recently denied that he was looking to leave, saying: “In a phase with less playing time, transfer rumours are always coming up.
“Of course I want to be on the pitch as much as possible and score goals for my club.
“In a team like Chelsea with many top players you have to prove yourself again and again. Such an illness throws you back a few weeks.
“Since my transfer in 2013, the long season (here there are no winter breaks), the great World Cup and the short pre-season, I’ve only had a little time to relax in between.
“Of course this quickly brings media to speculate about a transfer. But this is not an issue for me.
“I feel comfortable here and would not think of such a thing!”
