Saturday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.
Real Madrid lining up £30m summer move for Manchester United’s David de Gea
According to reports in the Mirror Los Blancos have made an approach to the goalkeeper’s representatives about a summer switch to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid have had their eye on the Spain international for some time as they seek a long-term replacement for captain Iker Casillas – who’s form has dropped in recent times.
Louis van Gaal remains confident that de Gea will start at Old Trafford, but a reported bid of £30m may well test their resolve.

However, a £140,000-a-week contract will be tabled to convince de Gea to stay
The Red Devils are desperate to keep hold of their No.1 as he is one of the best players they currently have at their disposal and are ready to double his wages to convince him to stay, according to the Daily Star.
This will see de Gea earning around £140,000-a-week and the club are hoping it is enough to ensure the 24-year-old isn’t tempted by a return to Spain with Madrid.
The ‘keeper has 18 months remaining on his current deal and his future with the 13-time Premier League champions has been plunged further into doubt by the recent signing of Victor Valdes.
Man United hoping to tempt Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne to join them
Van Gaal is still keen to add another right-back to his squad with Rafael the only natural option currently and has been impressed by Clyne’s development at St Mary’s, according to the Mirror.
The 23-year-old is now the established first choice for the England national team and the Dutchman thinks the defender could be the ideal addition to his back line.
The Saints are understandably keen to hold onto Clyne and are ready to offer the full-back a new contract.
Ashley Young is the only injured player currently
Ever since van Gaal took charge in the summer injuries have blighted his team and every week a number of key names have been on the sidelines.
Yet ahead of their league clash with Southampton on Sunday the 63-year-old was pleased to report that just one player was out of action due to fitness issues.
That player is Young and the 29-year-old took to Twitter to express his surprise at being the only one in the physio room.
Edinson Cavani lined up as £62m Radamel Falcao alternative
There is still much doubt about whether the Red Devils will make Falcao’s loan move from AS Monaco permanent and according to Le 10 Sport they have already lined up an alternative.
The French publication says that van Gaal is not convinced by the Colombia international and despite having a deal in place to sign him permanently, would prefer to pay more for Cavani.
The 27-year-old has failed to truly settle at Paris Saint-Germain ever since a 2013 switch from Napoli and could well be open to a move to England.
