Chelsea right-back Todd Kane has signed for Nottingham Forest on a loan deal until the end of the season, the Championship club confirmed this morning.

The 21-year-old, who was capped eight times by England at Under-19 level, has yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea.

However, he has picked up plenty of senior experience from previous loan spells, including two at Blackburn Rovers and a brief stint at Bristol City earlier this season, playing seven games for the Robins.

Kane joins Forest at a time when Stuart Pearce’s side are on a terrible run of form.

The East Midlands outfit have not won in any of their last seven games and they have fallen to 11th place in the Championship table, after being league leaders earlier in the campaign.

Kane joined Chelsea as an eight-year-old and eventually signed his first professional contract at Stamford Bridge in July 2011.

He helped the Blues win the Premier Reserve League in 2011 and the FA Youth Club in 2012.

Kane is 5ft 11in tall and his top skills include impressive positioning and composure on the ball.

Forest could hand a debut to Kane in Saturday’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday, who have not beaten the Tricky Trees in their last eight meetings.
