The Liverpool manager doesn’t look like he will fork out massive sums but has his sights firmly set on targets that will help resolve problems areas.

First off Rodgers will offer Lille £3m to bring forward Liverpool’s capture of Divock Origi, the Belgian having been loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the season, with the two sides discussing terms on a settlement.

The move is clearly designed to help the club cope in something of a striking crisis with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both failing to impress and Daniel Sturridge still out injured.

Liverpool have also made an opening offer for long term target Xherdan Shaqiri, with the English club offering £10m for the 23 year old.

The adaptable attacker is best suited to a wide role and Rodgers hopes to sign the Bayern Munich man this month.

Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen.

Rodgers hopes to improve his goalkeeping options by signing Fiorentina’s Neto, with the Serie A side confirming that the 25 year old will not sign a new contract.

The Brazilian would be available on a free transfer in the summer so Liverpool have offered the club £3m for the custodian in January.

Simon Mignolet has recently spent time out of Rodgers’ plans due to poor form and Brad Jones isn’t good enough to warrant a first team role so interest in Neto is unsurprising.
