Liverpool transfer news
Brendan Rodgers’ side have been highly disappointing so far this season, with the departure of Luis Suarez and injuries to Daniel Sturridge hitting the team hard as summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have failed to live up to expectations.
Raheem Sterling has adapted to a new role upfront in recent times, but may not be the long-term solution in that position as the club now look to rectify things this winter.
Still, these three players, including a former Tottenham Hotspur reject, surely don’t fit the bill in terms of replacing the immense quality Suarez brought to the side last season?
Read on to see the report of Liverpool’s three main striker targets…
1) Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion)
A player attracting plenty of interest at the moment, Saido Berahino is believed to be one of Liverpool’s top targets after his fine form for West Bromwich Albion this season. Still, the youngster is fairly unproven at the top level and doesn’t exactly look like being a huge upgrade for the Reds upfront.

2) Jermain Defoe (Toronto)
Formerly of Tottenham, Jermain Defoe is being linked with a Premier League return as something of an emergency option for Liverpool in the striker department. The veteran England forward is certainly past his best and the club must aim higher if they are to be serious about a top four finish this season.
3) Paco Alcacer (Valencia)
Finally, the Daily Telegraph also mentions highly-rated young Valencia striker Paco Alcacer as an option upfront for Liverpool. The Spaniard looks a decent prospect, but still seems to fall short of the kind of quality needed upfront to fill the boots of Suarez.
