Podolski’s tribute in full reads: “I can’t express in words my gratitude towards Arsenal fans for all they have done for me in my years in London! Please know my heart always holds a place for you. I’ve loved every minute playing for Arsenal & I hope I have left my mark on the club & fans alike. Hopefully we shall meet again! COYG #AFC #RedArmy #Fans #Poldi #Gunner #Thanks”
The move will bring an end to Podolski’s two and a half season stint in North London during which he won the FA Cup with the Gunners.
Podolski was seen as an ideal replacement for Robin Van Persie when he was signed in the summer of 2012 but the German never really lived up to the billing and saw his involvement and opportunities on the field dwindle season upon season.
Podolski was finally granted his desire exit from the club with Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan agreeing a short-term loan deal for the striker with a more permanent move expected in the summer.
