Stoke City 1-2 Manchester United
United are on a nine-game unbeaten run – a sequence of fixtures that has included seven wins. The Red Devils are still a bit shaky at the back, but they should have enough class to edge past Stoke, who have been far from convincing at home this season.
Aston Villa 2-0 Crystal Palace
So much has been going on at Palace this week, this game has almost been forgotten about. There is no way the Eagles can be adequately prepared and Villa should punish their lack of readiness.
Hull City 0-3 Everton
Steve Bruce’s Hull have scored just one goal in their last five home matches. The Tigers, who lost 1-0 to Leicester at the KC Stadium last time out, will need to improve a lot if they are to avoid another defeat.
Liverpool 4-1 Leicester City
Monday’s 4-1 win over Swansea will have filled Liverpool with confidence and that should help them record a third straight victory to put them back into contention for a top-four finish.
Manchester City 5-1 Sunderland
Despite blowing a 2-0 lead to draw with Burnley on Sunday, City remain top of the form table. However, Manuel Pellegrini will have been far from complimentary with his side in private following their capitulation against the Clarets. With the manager’s strong words ringing in their ears, the champions will thoroughly be fired up – that is bad news for Sunderland.
Newcastle United 3-1 Burnley
The Magpies have never lost a home game in the Premier League on New Year’s Day. Their fans will probably be in good spirits thanks to the imminent departure of unpopular manager Alan Pardew. A party atmosphere inside St James’ Park should spur the hosts on to three points.
Queens Park Rangers 3-1 Swansea City
Swansea’s away form is sketchy – Garry Monk’s men have won on the road just once since August. QPR are impressive at home, with four wins and two draws in their last six matches at Loftus Road.
Southampton 2-2 Arsenal
This one should be close. Arsenal are unbeaten five games, while the Saints are without a loss in three. Both sides start 2015 on 33 points, with Arsenal needing a win to move above their opponents into fourth place. Arsene Wenger’s boys will push hard, but they may fall just short in their attempts to get the win.
West Ham United 0-0 West Bromwich Albion
Sam Allardyce vs Tony Pulis – this will be tight… very tight!
Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Chelsea
Spurs have not beaten Chelsea in 10 attempts. The Blues have won those 10 games by an aggregate score of 23 to nine. Mauricio Pochettino has got his team playing some tidy stuff, but Chelsea will be too strong yet again.
