Consistently one of the finest left-backs in the Premier League, Arsenal star Kieran Gibbs is undoubtedly the unsung hero of his side and is only now working his way into the England setup.

Aston Villa – Alan Hutton
A much improved player this season, Alan Hutton deserves credit for his displays at right-back for Aston Villa.

Learning a new role on the left, Cesar Azpilicueta has been absolutely superb for Chelsea and does not get the same limelight as the likes of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard enjoy.
Crystal Palace – Joel Ward
A fine player and a highly versatile one at that, Joel Ward remains a key performer for Crystal Palace despite their struggles at the foot of the table.
Everton – Samuel Eto’o
Not a regular starter, but a big influence on the young players at the club, Samuel Eto’o’s work behind the scenes make him a key figure at Everton.
Hull City – Jake Livermore
A player who has quietly improved since leaving Tottenham Hotspur, Jake Livermore has been on top form this season despite Hull’s poor overall performances.
Leicester City – Ritchie de Laet
Although he failed to make the grade at Manchester United, Ritchie de Laet is now doing the business week in, week out for struggling Leicester City.
Liverpool – Kolo Toure
Not always in the starting lineup, but Kolo Toure has been much improved this season and has looked solid at the back in an otherwise struggling Liverpool defence.
Manchester City – Gael Clichy
Certainly not the biggest name in this star-studded Manchester City squad, but Gael Clichy has been statistically one of the team’s best performers this season.
Manchester United – Michael Carrick
A highly divisive player, but few can argue that Manchester United have looked much improved since the return of Michael Carrick pulling the strings in midfield.
Newcastle United – Papiss Cisse
A striker with eight goals this season despite only starting five games, Papiss Cisse is quietly getting back to his best for Newcastle United.
Queens Park Rangers – Joey Barton
So well known for his controversy off the pitch, it is easy to ignore that Joey Barton has actually been one of Queens Park Rangers’ most consistent performers this season.
Southampton – Jose Fonte
A player who doesn’t get the hype that the likes of Graziano Pelle or Morgan Schneiderlin, but Jose Fonte is a long-serving and reliable defender for the Saints.
Stoke City – Phil Bardsley
A highly consistent Premier League defender throughout the years, Phil Bardsley is still doing the business with Stoke City and is one of their most unsung players.
Sunderland – Patrick van Aanholt
A player who never made the grade at Chelsea, Patrick van Aanholt has quietly got on with things at Sunderland and has impressed on a consistent basis this season.
Swansea City – Lukasz Fabianski
Only ever a backup at Arsenal, Lukasz Fabianski has settled well playing every week since moving to Swansea City and has looked the part for Garry Monk’s side.
Tottenham Hotspur – Federico Fazio
After a nightmarish debut for the club, Federico Fazio has done well to bounce back for Tottenham Hotspur, who have looked far more solid as he has improved.
West Bromwich Albion – Chris Brunt
Mr reliable for West Bromwich Albion, Chris Brunt is an experienced hard-worker who could be key to steering the side away from relegation trouble.
