Is this Louis van Gaal’s best XI with the world-class Spaniard included?
GK) David de Gea
Arguably the most in-form goalkeeper in the world right now, de Gea has been phenomenal for Manchester United this season and has saved them on more than one occasion.
RB) Rafael
The Brazilian has spent most of this season injured, but without another recognised right-back he is the best option Louis van Gaal has.
CB) Michael Carrick
Although he is predominantly a defensive midfielder, he has done fantastically when deployed at centre-back this season. He has added some much needed stability to a poor defence, and has been the catalyst for United’s resurgence.
CB) Marcos Rojo
Another player who has spent large chunks of the season injured, Rojo has been solid for United this campaign and his versatility is a huge bonus.
LB) Luke Shaw
There were questions over the colossal price tag attached to the teenager this summer, but when he has been available for selection this season he has been excellent.
DM) Sergio Busquets
One of the finest holding midfielders in the world, the Barcelona star would unquestionably add something to Louis van Gaal’s side.
CM) Marouane Fellaini
One of the most improved players this season, the Belgian has crowbarred his way into Louis van Gaal’s plans and doesn’t look like slipping back out any time soon.
CM) Angel di Maria
Manchester United’s record signing, the Argentine has been in excellent form since joining from Real Madrid. He was a shining light at the start of the season, and will be looking to kick on after returning from injury.
CAM) Wayne Rooney
Louis van Gaal’s captain, Rooney has been inspiring this season. He hasn’t necessarily shown his best form at all times, but his work-rate and leadership has been superb.
ST) Robin van Persie
Although the Dutch forward hasn’t been in his best form this season, he is still one of the best strikers in the world.
ST) Radamel Falcao
The Colombian has yet to really prove himself at Old Trafford, but once he is fully fit the goals are sure to flow.
