According to the Daily Mail, the young Brazilian was involved in a match currently under investigation, which took place between Levante and Real Zaragoza back in 2011.

Manchester United star Ander Herrera is also being investigated as he played for Zaragoza that day, while Wellington was on loan at Levante that year.

The 21-year-old is also on loan in La Liga again this season, playing for Almeria as he seeks to obtain a work permit to become eligible to represent Arsenal in the Premier League.

Wellington is yet to play a game for the north London club since joining them in a £3.5m move from Fluminese in 2010, and this incident could have seriously detrimental effects on his career if he is found guilty of taking part in match-fixing.
