Arsene Wenger looks to be gearing up for a sizeable splash in the January transfer window to help ease Arsenal’s top four ambitions.
According to the latest reports the Gunners are in the mix for a host of stars and we take a look at some of the major names linked with a move to the Emirates below.
Krystian Bielik (Legia Warsaw)
Arsenal are supposedly on the brink of a deal for the Polish youngster who was said to be in London this past week to finalise a move to North London.
Bielik has made just six appearances for Legia Warsaw, but has already been dubbed the ‘next Patrick Vieira’.
Winston Reid (West Ham United)
The New Zealander doesn’t really fit the bill for a typical Arsenal signing but perhaps that’s the reason Arsene Wenger is reportedly targeting him, in a bid to give the Gunners some added steel in their weak defence.
However, Wenger may have to pay a hefty chunk of his January budget for Reid with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce warning he’d want at least £20 million for the Kiwi.
Pedro (Barcelona)
The Barcelona winger could be reunited with former teammate Alexis Sanchez as soon as January with the Spain forward apparently having fallen out with new boss Luis Enrique.
The Metro believes the deal would cost up to £26 million but you’d think such a significant outlay could be better spent elsewhere in the Arsenal team. The defence maybe?
Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
Now into the last year of his contract at the Bernabeu, the German World Cup was linked heavily with a move to the Emirates in the summer that never materialised.
With just six months left on the deal, January presents the last opportunity for Real to get a decent figure.
Arsenal are reported to once again be interested in returning for the midfielder in January as Real Madrid look for a long term replacement. Madrid, it turns out, are actually squared on another Arsenal target…
Lucas Silva (Cruzeiro)
Arsenal have had a recent boost in their quest for Silva with Marca reporting their major competition, Real Madrid, are reconsidering their attempts to sign the defensive midfielder.
The Gunners are said to be the only side that are willing to pay the full amount Silva’s Brazilian club want for his signature and look, at the moment at least, in pole position for his signature.
So he’ll probably end up at Real Madrid.
