It is alleged that Keane believed the on-loan Manchester United midfielder was behind the stories claiming he left his position at Villa Park due to a training ground falling out.
According to reports, the day before the Irishman left his post as Paul Lambert’s assistant manager on November 30 he was involved in a confrontation at the club’s Bodymoor Heath base.
Forward Gabriel Agbonlahor is said to be the player on the end of Keane’s fury and leaked reports of this were believed to have come from Cleverley.
The 43-year-old spent 15 minutes ringing the doorbell of the Englishman’s Chesire home before eventually leaving – but the Red Devils legend was caught on CCTV.
Keane no longer believes that Cleverley was the man who started the rumours, with Villa still insisting the former United man left his post to concentrate on being Marin O’Neill’s No.2 for the Republic of Ireland national team.
It has been a busy year for the ex-midfielder, who as well as getting back into football also released his second autobiography ‘The Second Half’ – which featured controversial comments on Sir Alex Ferguson.
