Venancio left Portuguese giants Benfica in April when he learned of United’s interesting, moving to train with the Red Devils in a bid to earn a contract with the club – but his performances in the club’s academy have been so impressive that City noticed his potential and have been trying to lure the teenager across the city.
It appears that United have held off the competition, however, and have persuaded Venancio to commit his short term future to the club, meaning that he will be able to sign a professional deal with the club once he turns 16.
United appear to be on a real drive to raise the levels of quality within their academy, with the report also suggesting that two Belgian teenagers could be heading to United, with the Red Devils perhaps responding to the fact that City have recently opened the £200 million Etihad Campus in a bid to produce more young players for the first team.
