The Atletico Madrid manager is paving the way for an exit from Spain…
Manchester City’s impressive win last night hasn’t been enough to stop speculation about the future of manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Spanish newspaper El Confidencial note that Diego Simeone has “accelerated” the English classes he takes with a tutor, which is enough evidence for them to link him with Man City.
The story also claims that Simeone was pursued by Manchester United before their appointment of Louis Van Gaal, with City’s rivals unable to drag Simeone away from his beloved Atleti despite offering a “succulent contract”.
Simeone is believed to be considering taking a sabbatical in the United States to learn English, in much the same way that Pep Guardiola did before moving to Bayern Munich.

The Argentine has a deal with Atletico until 2017, but it has been established that there are clauses within the deal that allow the contract to be terminated by either party each summer.
It is though that the in-demand coach may want to leave Spain as soon as the end of this year, ensuring he goes on a high, before relationships within the club start to decay.
Atletico are looking just as ominously strong as last year. El Cholo‘s side qualified top of their Champions League group over Juventus, and could face Manchester City or Arsenal in the next round.
