After one youngster made his first team debut last night, another is set to commit his future to the club.
All the focus at Stamford Bridge yesterday was on young Ruben-Loftus Cheek, who made his Chelsea debut against Sporting Lisbon, but he isn’t the only Blues youngster who could be on the verge of breaking into the first team squad on a a permanent basis.
Danish paper BT have today confirmed that young Andreas Christensen, who has trained with the first team over the last few months, has impressed Jose Mourinho enough to be offered a new contract at the club.
“It is true that we had a meeting Tuesday,” Christensen’s father Sten told the press.
“We are in a positive dialogue with Chelsea, but I don’t want to say any more. It is a matter to be dealt with internally with Chelsea.”

The 18-year-old made his debut at the end of October, playing 90 minutes at right-back against Shrewsbury. He was quietly impressive – perhaps the least that should be expected against League Two opposition.
Chelsea only recently extended the young Dane’s deal till 2016, but he will receive another wage bump if he chooses to sign the five year contract now being offered to him. His new wages will apparently be in line with Chelsea’s other young defensive talent Kurt Zouma.
With the 18-year-old looking ready for top level action already, there are no shortage of clubs willing to take him on loan. BT links the centre-back with temporary moves to the Championship, France and the Bundesliga.
