Who could the trio face in the next round? Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City will find out for sure when the draw is made on Monday, but here are all of the possibilities that they could face…
Arsenal
The Gunners could be facing yet another tough draw for the last 16 of the Champions League. After drawing Barcelona and Bayern Munich in recent years, the North London club could face the same teams again as well as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. They will be hoping that Monaco or Porto are the teams that come out of the hat for them on Monday.
Chelsea
The Blues are the only team to have qualified in first place for the next round, which means that they face and easier draw than the other two. However, there are a couple of harder teams that are possible for them to play. Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk are all available for the Blues to go up against, and could all be a tough test of their capabilities. Even Basel beat them in last year’s competition and they could face them again. Bayer Leverkusen would be the easiest match for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Manchester City
The Sky Blues waited until the last match to seal their qualification, and could face a problematic draw because of it. However, it is not as difficult as that of Arsenal simply because they will not be able to play Bayern Munich again in the next round. They are replaced by Borussia Dortmund, who have been struggling so far this season. The other possibilities are Monaco, Porto, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona, who knocked them out last year at the same stage.
