Man United Hopes Of Nani Return Crushed After Another Ed Woodward Blunder

The Manchester United official’s hopeless negotiating comes back to bite the club again.

Manchester United’s hope of recalling on-loan winger Nani from Sporting have been dealt a serious blow by the Portuguese club’s management.

Goal have revealed that the club have “no chance” of returning their player back from his loan spell prematurely, and Louis Van Gaal, who expressed interest in bringing the 28-year-old back, will have to make do without him.

It would be easy to blame this all on Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice-chairman. It was Woodward who organised the deal for Marcos Rojo, which saw United not only pay an inflated £16m fee but also send Nani out as part of the deal; and the United official also failed to include any kind of recall fee.

However Louis Van Gaal is as much to blame for the fiasco, as it was the Dutchman who sanctioned Nani’s departure.

United’s 2011 player of the year, Nani has found his form again in Portugal after an indifferent few years in Manchester, and has scored an impressive 7 times in the 14 games he’s played for Lisbon.

Sporting are in London at the moment as they prepare to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with a spot in the last 16 available if results go their way. Nani will miss the game however, as he has picked up a thigh strain.
