Chelsea’s predicted lineup against Sporting Lisbon:
GK) Petr Cech
Having found himself displaced by Thibaut Courtois this season, the experienced shot-stopper should get a game against Sporting.
RB) Cesar Azpilicueta
With Branislav Ivanovic playing a huge number of games this season, the tough tackling Serbian is likely to be given a rest; with Azpilicueta returning to his favoured right-back position.
CB) Kurt Zouma
The young centre-back is seen as the future of Chelsea’s defence, and will get a game while John Terry is rested.
CB) Gary Cahill
With few other options, Cahill should continue in the centre of defence.
LB) Filipe Luis
The Brazilian should get a rare game at left-back with a number of key players being rested.
DM) John Obi Mikel
With Nemanja Matic likely to be rested, Mikel should continue at the heart of the midfield.
DM) Ramires
With the arrival of Nemanja Matic Ramires has seen his first team chances reduced, but should get a run out against Sporting.
CAM) Andre Schurrle
The German has been criticised for his defensive work-rate, but is likely to be given some freedom playing behind Diego Costa.
RW) Mohamed Salah
A run out for one of Chelsea’s many forgotten men. A chance to show what he can do on the European stage.
LW) Loic Remy
With the French forward finding himself behind Diego Costa and Didier Drogba this season, this will be a good chance for him to try and stake a more regular starting place.
ST) Diego Costa
Jose Mourinho has surprisingly confirmed that the summer signing will start, perhaps still missing a measure of match fitness.
